Costume, movement, text and makeup are consciously and precisely used to put the audience member inside the mind of a woman subjected to domestic abuse. The precise nature of the abuse is not stated; perhaps it’s not relevant. What is relevant is the effect it has on her state of mind. There is much self-loathing, often projected into hostility towards the audience – who may represent those trying (perhaps – how is she to know for sure?) to help her.
Show review! - I really enjoyed Alice in the Wilderness tonight... A fantastic one women performance which touched in on so many dark hidden experiences that a girl moving to womenhood experiences... highlighting abuse to self-loathing... addictions to letting go... transformation to the worrior... the Goddess herself as finally awakened... very powerful xx
This production is a "must see." An aural and visual delight that makes the audience cry beneath its laughter
